Wismar Christmas Market

Wismar, ancient port and commercial center of the Hanseatic League, is a beautiful town overlooking the Baltic Sea, its medieval old town, characterized by an immense square, thanks to the beauty of its Baltic Gothic-style buildings has been declared a world heritage of humanity by UNESCO. The Wismar Christmas Market is the highlight of the city’s Christmas season.


Wismar Christmas Market (Wismarer Weihnachtsmarkt). The Wismar Christmas Market offers original ideas for Christmas gifts in its wooden chalets, such as toys of all shapes and sizes, handcrafted wooden works, puppets, candles and decorations for Christmas trees, Christmas objects typical of the region. In the part of the market dedicated to trades, you will find the baker churning out the bread, the blacksmith working the iron or the glazier blowing glass. Among the specialties mulled wine, punch (Eierpunsch), hot chocolate, toasted almonds, pastries and apple dessert. A part of the market is dedicated to children, here children can participate in making pottery, bread, candles, etc.
