Dortmund, is one of the most important industrial cities in Germany, and the largest city in the Ruhr area, known as the green metropolis of Westphalia thanks to its green spaces, made up of parks and streams. The city, even if heavily damaged by the bombings of the Second World War, still maintains a historic center with medieval characteristics, and has several interesting historic buildings, such as the churches of Reinoldikirche and Marienkirche, jewels of medieval architecture, and that of Petrikirche from the 15th century.

1) Dortmund Christmas Market (Dortmunder Weihnachtsmarkt). The Dortmund Market, one of the largest in Germany, is made up of over 300 wooden chalets displaying handicrafts, toys, Christmas decorations, and showing the craftsmanship of local craftsmen. There are many stalls dedicated to the delicacies of German cuisine and in particular that of Westphalia, you will have to taste the famous sausages, ham and potato pancakes, obviously there is no shortage of desserts such as pancakes, chocolate, toasted almonds.

Dortmund boasts the largest Christmas tree in Germany, 45 meters high and illuminated by over 40,000 bulbs. The market usually fills nine squares in the city center: Hansaplatz, Alter Markt, Reinoldi-Kirchplatz, Kleppingstraße, Willy-Brandt-Platz, Reinoldi-Nordseite, Platz von Leeds, Platz von Netanya, and Petri-Kirchplatz. There are many games and attractions for children, for whom a special Christmas village has been created where the little ones can build their presents, recite poems, sing songs, or bake biscuits in the oven.

The approximately 300 stalls of the Dortmund Christmas market await you with their handicrafts, their Christmas decorations, unusual toys and many other proposals and activities to make your Advent unique.
