Gmunden Christmas Market

Gmunden is a small tourist center in Upper Austria located along the Traunsee lake, halfway between Linz and Salzburg. the most important attractions of the village are the Castle (Landschloss) and the Castle on the Lake (Seeschloss Ort). Gmunden is also known for the production of its famous pottery (Gmundner Keramik).

GMUNDEN CHRISTMAS MARKET

There are two places where the Gmunden Christmas Market usually takes place. A market is held in the streets of the historic centre, while another is set up inside the Castle on the Lake.

1) Christmas market in the Castle on the Lake (Schlösseradvent im Seeschloss Ort). The market usually takes place inside this medieval castle located on an islet on Lake Traunsee connected by a wooden footbridge to the village of Gmunden.

2) Gmunden Christmas Market (Gmundner Advent in der Innenstadt) takes place in the historic center (Innenstadt) of this Austrian holiday resort, between Kirchengasse, Rinnholzplatz and Marktplatz. Typical of this market are the famous ceramics produced on site and the delicacies of Christmas products such as biscuits, baked apples, almonds, chestnuts.
