Toronto Christmas Market

The Toronto Christmas market is held in the historic Distillery District – located to the east of the city center (Downtown Toronto). This area was designated in 1988 as a National Historic Site of Canada. There are many historic buildings, some of which dating back to Victorian era, they were part of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. The Gooderham and Worts distillery was founded in 1832 and at the end of 1860 became one of the most important and largest distillery in the world. Characterize the District the numerous cafes, restaurants and shops generally housed in historic buildings. In this historic setting characterized by Victorian-era industrial architecture takes place every year – in Advent – the famous Toronto Christmas market.

The Christmas Market is made up of the classic wooden stalls that characterize all markets of Germany – the original birthplace of the Christmas Markets. Here visitors will find themselves immersed in a typical atmosphere and unique aromas that can be found only in Europe. Here you can buy all kinds of goods and Christmas gifts. Among the market stalls you will also find many typical products of Christmas as mulled wine, roasted nuts, grilled sausages and other tasty snacks. There is also a nice selection of craft products from various parts of the world. Here you can find traditional objects such as nativity figurines, toys, wood carvings, candles and handmade Christmas decorations. Many will be the opportunity to luxuriate in front of a drink, including many varieties of beer, the popular mulled wine and other hot drinks and more. During the Christmas market in Toronto it is also presented numerous free performances including choirs, carolers, marching bands and dance groups. Among other things there will be big lit Christmas trees, the home of Santa Claus, a carousel and a Ferris wheel.

The best way to reach the Christmas Market in Toronto is the TTC – the public transport system of the city.

Opening hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 21:00. Friday from 12:00 to 22:00. Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00. Sunday from 10:00 to 21:00. Closed on Mondays. Free admission from Tuesday to Friday, $ 5.00 per person (including tax) on Saturdays and Sundays.
