Celle Christmas Market

Celle is a beautiful medieval city in Lower Saxony, located about 40 km north-east of Hanover, founded in the Middle Ages, it was the seat of the Principality of Lüneburg-Celle from the 14th to the 18th century.

Celle retains a historic center (Altstadt), which remained practically intact even after the Second World War, with beautiful wooden houses dating back to the 16th and 18th centuries, there are almost 500 of them.

However, the most impressive building in the city is its castle (Schloss Celle) built in the 16th century, among the religious buildings the most interesting is the parish church (Stadtkirche), inside which are the tombs of the dukes.
